Are You Commissioned?

Having just recently studied “The Way Of The Master” with my small group, and having completed the study, in which, we were instructed to “go out” and use the tools we learned by witnessing, I must admit that was esentially the last time since. It takes courage to maintain a complete evangelical approach to ministry. I do pray for that. It’s always my reasoning that gets in the way, and one thing I know about reasoning(the ability for one to think for ones self), is that I am incapable of doing that without His help. He always helps, so why is it that I don’t take the appropriate action/steps? Watch and learn.

  1. Hey Kurt,

First off glad you changed the comment section so non-wordpress folk could comment. Second I like the video in that it brings up some great outreach issues.

  2. [...] Kurt over at Just a Few Thoughts asks us about sharing our faith in this post. [...]

  3. That’s a beaut! I have used every single one of those excuses. Even after the course. Why do you think that is?

Because it’s not about a course. I love TWOTM, but sharing The Gospel is about sharing the story of a relationship. My relationship with Christ. It also hinges mightily on my ability to communicate that relationship with others.
Biggest argument against relationship evangelism: The law brings conviction of sin and unrighteousness. There must be conviction of sin. And it must happen now! Hurry before a Mack truck crashes through the door of this Starbucks and they never get an opportunity to “say the prayer.” Which in itself is another blog topic…
Most definitely, communication of our separation from God due to sin is part of it too. But, if we are ready “in season and out season,” presenting the Gospel in the context of our life change will not be foreign. And it’s not just about condemnation. We must “tell the truth in love.”
I’ll say this, I believe we are much more effective in our witness if we know what God has done to change our lives and why we believe what we believe. AND, are willing and able to communicate it. There is only One Way to get to heaven, but to reach the lost you’d better be able to step outside of the “cookie cutter” approach. Do it and you will avoid the “SHUT DOWN.”

  4. I love this video, I saw it on GodTube too. At least it’s not just me that has these fears!

I do think that we can often say as much in our actions, in how we respond to the world and in just who we are than we can achieve through just talking. It’s just about being ready to be open and honest when someone asks you about your faith.
